Novel E-triazolylpentenols of the formula IMAGE in which R is a C1-C10-alkyl radical or a C3-C8-alkenyl radical and R1 is an aromatic hydrocarbon radical which is unsubstituted or monosubstituted or polysubstituted by identical or different substituents from the series comprising halogen, C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-alkoxy, C1-C4-alkylthio, trifluoromethyl or the nitro group, or is a heterocyclic hydrocarbon radical, and their acid addition salts with inorganic and organic acids, the preparation of these compounds, and biocidal and growth-regulating compositions containing them.
