Microfiche reader for use with a microfiche magazine

A microfiche reader having a lower part, a microfiche stage that can be displaced in two co-ordinate directions, and an apparatus hood in which a lens which in the operating state faces the stage and is preferably supported thereon in a floating fashion, as well as at least one deflecting mirror and a screen, are arranged, is constructed for the use of microfiche magazines each containing a plurality of microfiches in such a way that a magazine chamber (1a) for a magazine (8) is provided in the lower part (1) behind the displacement region of the stage (11a, 11b) and accessible from outside, and a selector (6, 9, 15; 6, 9, 24, 25, 26) for selecting a fiche (7) is provided in a magazine (8) inserted in the magazine chamber (1a), and transport means (15, 17, 18; 26, 17, 18) are arranged for moving a selected fiche (7) into the stage (11a, 11b) and back into the magazine (8) in the lower part (1) and/or in the hood (2). It is possible in this way to construct a reader for microfiche magazines in such a compact manner that when used as a desk apparatus it still leaves free sufficient working space on a desk. IMAGE
