The viral vectors for the cloning and expression of a DNA sequence coding for a specified protein in a eucaryotic cell contain at least: - a part of the genome of a retrovirus, the said part comprising at least the promoter region and the elements providing for replication, integration in provirus form, encapsidation of the viral genome and splicing of the viral messenger RNAs, - and a single restriction site located downstream of the promoter region, so that the DNA sequence coding for a specified protein cloned at this site is placed under the control of this promoter region.
