The sleeve type clamp is for a painter's brush and is attached with it's rear end to the handle of the brush and encloses the bristle bundle with the front section. The clamp enclosure fits round the rear ends of the bristles to provide a fixing. Longitudinal ribs (15) are located on the inner wall (11, 11') of the clamp (1) extending parallel to the axis of the clamp (13) and beginning near to the front edge (14) of the clamp. The distance of the ribs from each other is smaller than twice the width of the ribs.
