The invention relates to a foundation pile for the foundation of a drilling or production platform. The foundation pile is guided by guide rings along an inclined standing leg. In this arrangement, the foundation pile is of telescopic construction and has a centrally arranged pile which is concentrically surrounded with certain clearance by telescopic tubes which are sealed off from the pile and from one another. First the pile and then the telescopic tubes surrounding it are driven into the soft seabed by an underwater pile driver. After the pile-driving work is complete, the hollow space sealed off to the outside between pile and telescopic tubes is filled with sealing compound. This results in a very flexurally rigid foundation pile which does not buckle laterally under the load of the standing legs even in yielding seabeds.
