Process for the improvement of physicochemical properties of metal sheets which are hot-coated by passing through a bath of one or more materials maintained in liquid state, characterised in that the chemical composition of the coating layer of the metal sheet T is modified by diffusing into it solid addition elements deposited at the surface of the coating layer still in the liquid state, this deposition being carried out by circulating the coated strip in a dense dispersed medium of fine solid particles of additive elements, generated with the aid of a fluidised bed, the diffusion being obtained by maintaining the coating of the metal sheet in the liquid state.
