METHOD FOR CARRYING OUT LOW-S OPERATION OF BLAST FURNACE

PURPOSE:To carry out efficient desulfurization during the operation of a blast furnace without wearing the equipment by blowing a slurrified CaO- or MgO- base slag forming agent into the tip of a tuyere. CONSTITUTION:Ore and coke are alternately charged into a blast furnace in layers, and hot air is blown from a tuyere. The ore is preheated, reduced, softened, melted, and discharged as molten pig iron. At this time, a slurrified CaO- or MgO-base slag forming agent is concentrically blown into the tip of the tuyere to carry out desulfurization. The amount of the slag forming agent blown is about 5-100g per 1Nm3 hot air, and the concn. of the slag forming agent in the slurry is about 5-70%. By this method, =about 95% rate of desulfurization can be attained.
