PURPOSE:To obtain ferritic spheroidal graphite cast iron having high breaking elongation, satisfactory toughness and oxidation resistance by specifying the amounts of C, Si, Mn, S and Mo and regulating the amount of P or P+Ti. CONSTITUTION:This ferritic spheroidal graphite cast iron consists of 2.6-3.6% C, 3-3.8% Si, =0.5% Mn, =0.03% S, =0.03% S, =0.6% Mo, =0.06% P+Ti (P=0.02%), 0.02-0.15% Mg+rare earth element and the balance Fe with impuri ties. By this composition, =8% static breaking elongation at 400 deg.C and =1 kg-m/cm2 Charpy impact value can be ensured, and the problem of blue brittle ness can be solved. The cast iron can be manufactured at a low cost without requiring an expensive material such as Ni.
