Carpet patterns applied by line printer response to image analyser - pref. via microprocessor which can modify the colour selection if desired for individual effects

Process for printing textiles with a pattern reproduced from a sketch makes use of a combination of an optical scanner and an image analyser to the colour distribution across successive portions of the sketch to data acceptable to a computer or microprocessor. The computer then controls the distribution of ink of an appropriate colour to a line printer which is then applied to the surface of a full-sized base panel of the textile. The lines are overprinted with additional colours as necessary to develop the full pattern.
