Homogenising machine for milk and fruit juices - has rotary valve and spring-loaded valve assembly forming variable construction

In a passage connecting to a high pressure line in the housing of an homogenising head, and projecting into the outlet of the homogenising unit at the inlet side of the head, a seating bush is fitted. This has obliquely-inclined longitudinal grooves running outwards towards the delivery from the homogenising unit, and a rotary valve is inserted into the bush. The rotary valve is formed by a shaft with spirally running grooves on its outer surface and a journal stepped down to form a collar extending along the line of flow. An inner valve body is fixed on the journal against the shoulder, with axial openings, and next to the inner valve body, an outer valve body is free to rotate on the journal. For pref. the rotary valve has more than one freely turning valve body on the shaft journal next to the inner valve body. The plant has a conventional driving mechanism and triple piston unit for applying high pressure to the liquids being processed, and has also a manually adjusted mechanism for regulating the load applied to the rotary valve in the homogenising head. Arrangement simplifies the design of machines with three pistons for this purpose, reduces the energy consumption and dispenses with the complicated equipment normally used for regulating the pressure.
