-11-PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF POLYURETHANE RESIN FORELECTROSTATIC SPINNINGAbstractA process for the preparation of polyurethane resinsparticularly suitable for electrostatic spinning whichcomprises forming a prepolymer of polyether glycol and adiisocyanate reacted in a molar ratio of about 1:2, andthereafter reacting the prepolymer with additionaldiisocyanate and a diol extender, the final molar ratio ofthe polyether, isocyanate and diol reactants beingapproximately 1:3.7:2.5. The reaction is conducted in anorganic solvent at a temperature of about 45°C. to obtaina polymer having an inherent viscosity of from about 2.0to 2.4 in a solution of 25 to 30 percent solids. Thesolution is diluted to about 15 percent solids prior tospinning.
