ABSTRACTProcess and reagent for the determination of thehaemoglobin-haptoglobin complex in the presenceof free haemoglobinThe present invention provides a process forthe determination of the haemoglobin-haptoglobincomplex in the presence of free haemoglobin byutilisation of the different peroxidate propertiesof free and of bound haemoglobin, wherein, for theselective inhibition of the peroxidase activity ofthe free haemoglobin, a detergent is added and theresidual peroxidate activity of the reaction mixtureis measured.The present invention also provides a reagentfor carrying out this process wherein, besides thesubstances required for the determination of theperoxidase activity, it contains a detergent forthe inhibition of the peroxidase activity of freehaemoglobin.Furthermore, the present invention providesa process for determining the haptoglobin contentof a sample, as well as a process for determiningglycosilated haemoglobin in a sample.
