The immobilisation is effected by entrapment in polymerised compounds by a process in which aqueous solutions or dispersions of the biological material are mixed with an aqueous solution of readily soluble high molecular weight polymerisable compounds which have two or more polymerisable functional groups per molecule and a molecular weight above 400, followed by polymerisation.
