2-(2-acetamido-2-deoxy-3-O-D-glucopyranosyl)-D-propionyl-L-alanyl- -D-glutamic acid esters and 2-(2-acetamido-2-deoxy-3-O-D-glucopyranosyl)-D-propionyl-L-alanyl- -D-isoglutamine of formula (I) are novel cpds. (where R1 = -OCnH2n+1 or -NH2; n = 1, 2 or 3; R2 = O-CpH2p+1 and p = 0, 1, 2 or 3 with the condition that p - O when R1 = -NH2). Cpds. (I) are anti-infectious agents and immunological adjuvants used to stimulate an innumitary response in a host to bacterial, viral and parasitory infections and against different tissular antigens. When using (I) it is not necessary to use a particular admin. medium e.g. for injectable solutions it is not necessary to have an oil phase. (I) may be administered by oral, parenteral (injection) or scarification methods or by application to mucous tissues. (I) have low toxicity and are well tolerated when administered parenterally to mice at 100 mg/kg and rabbits at 5 mg/kg. Their admin. with weak vaccine antigens is claimed.
