1. An impervious core in embankment structures, in particular for dams, with a bituminous seal (11) formed from two walls wich lie opposite one another at a distance and consist of superposed composite stones (3) and between which the sealing mass is poured and compressed, the composite stones (3) having smooth lateral surfaces and forming an indentation with their adjacent stones in such a way that they are held laterally fixed relative to one another, characterized in that the end faces lying opposite one another in each case are provided with projections (8, 10) of triangular cross-section and with corresponding recesses (7, 9) respectively.
