The apparatus has moulding tools (3, 4) for sintering especially different moulded articles of expandable plastic arranged at mounting locations arranged in a grid on mounting plates (1, 2). For actuating and supplying the moulding tools (3, 4; 3c, 4b), there are arranged at the mounting locations supply connections (103), valves (65a; 66a) and actuating devices (90, 91, 92; 103a), which are connected to feed lines (61a, 62a, 61b, 62b, 103b) for media for heating, cooling, filling and sintering and to further installations for control. Further valves are provided upstream of the feed lines (61a, 62a, 61b, 62b). The actuating elements, for example ejectors, are integrated with supply devices, for example nozzles for sintering media, valve functions and sensors; they are actuated in multi-stage mode by actuators (90, 91, 92). The valves (65a, 66a) and actuators (90, 103) are activated according to the requirements of the individual moulded article, preferably on the basis of sensor signals.
