The boiler is fed from a hopper (2) containing the pulverised fuel. The fuel is fed onto a moVing grate (1) which travels under the furnace. The grate allows air to pass across it into the furnace. Ashes are tipped off the end of the moving grate (3). A hood covers the grate. The hood is throttled to a neck (7) before opening into the combustion chamber (6). The boiler is ignited by the ignition burners (4,5). The burners are used to inject pulverised fuel into the furnace to meet the combustion gases from the frame.
