The invention relates to a device making it possible to compose a text from a list of proposals to which access is available via the words and characteristics of these proposals and at the same to obtain the text in another language by translation of the said proposals. It consists of supports for proposals in the design language 1 and in the compiling languages 2, 3 and supports for words 4 to be included in the blanks 5 of the proposal in the design language 6, selected by the sort system 7 and chosen from among several proposals 8, the antecedents being stored in the support 16. The support 9 contains the words to be substituted for those which are not used in the supports 1 and 4. The sort system 7 makes it possible to identify the proposals 10 and 11 in the compiling languages and the words 12 and 13 of these languages to be included in the blanks 14 and 15. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for the composition of messages, commercial letters, telex in the language of the recipient and to facilitate international written exchanges.
