ATTRACTANT AND FEED STIMULANT FOR COCKROACH

PURPOSE:The titled stimulant, containing a seed oil of rabbit-ear iris, blue flag, etc., as an active ingredient, having improved attractant and feed stimulant action on cockroaches as a whole and useful for capturing and exterminating cockroaches even when several kinds of cockroaches are gregariously living. CONSTITUTION:An attractant and feed stimulant containing one or two or more selected from seed oils of rabbit-ear iris, blue flag, Iris ensata Thunb. forma spontanea Makino and Belamcanda chinensis as an active ingredient. The above-mentioned active ingredient is obtained by crushing the above- mentioned dried seeds, extracting the seeds with a lipophilic organic solvent, e.g. n-hexane, etc., or hydrophilic organic solvent, for 2-4hr using a Soxhlet extractor, distilling away the solvent from the resultant extract solution, adding an alcohol to dissolve the residue, removing alcohol-insoluble materials by decantation and distilling away the solvent from the alcohol solution to afford the above-mentioned seed oil as a dark-brown oily material. The resultant seed oil is then dissolved in a suitable solvent to give a solution, which is applied or adsorbed in a carrier. The resultant material is dried and finely cut to produce an attractant tape, etc., for cockroaches.
