HANDWRITTEN CHARACTER RECOGNIZING SYSTEM BASED UPON SORT ADOPTING THE NUMBER OF STROKES

PURPOSE:To attain proper recognition by determining the order of candidate based on the stroke number information in case a candidate to be recognized is selected without using the stroke number information. CONSTITUTION:At the time of a character is written on a tablet 1, the coordinate point sequence of the character and the up/down information of a pen is inputted to a candidate selecting circuit 2. In the circuit 2, the inputted character pattern is compared with a dictionary pattern in a recognizing dictionary 3. The candidate selected by the circuit 2 is sorted by a stroke number sorting circuit 4 to determine the recognizing order of the candidate. Namely, the difference between the number of strokes of the input pattern and that of the candidate pattern is calculated by the circuit 4 and the stroke number sorting of the candidate to be recognized is executed in accordance with the calculated value.
