PURPOSE:To exactly obtain the thermal load of a blast furnace wall by embedding a piping for measuring the thermal load into the furnace wall, adequately providing a flow meter and water temp. meter thereto and estimating the thermal load of the furnace wall from the change of the flow rate and water temp. measured by the flow meter and water temp. meter. CONSTITUTION:The piping 3 for measurement in which water 4 is passed is embedded into the blast furnace wall 2 and the flow meter 6, a flow rate control valve 7 and a thermometer 7 are provided on the inlet side thereof and a thermometer 8 is provided on the outlet side. The heat of the blast furnace flows in an arrow direction 11 to heat the water 4 flowing in the piping 3. The temps. of the water 4 on the inlet side and outlet side measured by the thermometers 7, 8 are designated as Ti( deg.C) and To( deg.C). The flow rate of the water 4 measured by the flow meter 6 is designated as F(m3/hour). To-Ti is calculated by a temp. difference calculator 9 and the value thereof is designated as DELTAT( deg.C). The thermal load Q is determined by Q=FcDELTAT [c is the specific heat (Kcal/m3) of the water 4] in a calculator 10. The thermal load of the furnace wall 2 is thereby exactly obtd. and the thermal load distribution in a specific region is obtd. This method is effective for obtaining the information on the operation of the blast furnace.
