PURPOSE:To stably form positive and negative images by specifying the concn. of bromine ions in a developing soln. to a specific range and developing an internal latent image type direct positive silver halide photographic sensitive material and negative type silver halide photographic sensitive material with the common developing soln. CONSTITUTION:The undeveloped internal latent image type direct positive silver halide photographic sensitive material 2 or negative type silver halide photographic sensitive material 3 is housed in a magazine 19 and is developed. The material 2 or 3 is then sent to a developing soln. tank 6, a bleach fixing tank 7, stabilizer tanks 8, 9 and a drying section 10, by which the material is developed. The concn. of the bromine ions in the developing soln. of the developing soln. tank 6 is specified to 5.0X10-3-2.0X10-2 gram ions/l. The material 2 is exposed by an exposing device 22 and the material 3 is not exposed. Since the concn. of the bromine ions in the developing soln. is specified to the specific range, the material 2 and the material 3 are processed in the common developing soln. tank. The device is thus made compact and the working space is assured.
