A process for the production of an insoluble sulphur-containing premixture containing sulphur, elastomer and process oil in which the sulphur and the elastomer are mixed together at a specific temperature below the transition temperature of the insoluble sulphur, in which the insoluble sulphur is dispersed in the elastomer and the sulphur has first been predistributed and the process oil has been mixed in, characterised in that a sulphur premixture is obtained from insoluble sulphur and a particular but selectable known powdered rubber by agitation at room temperature.
