PURPOSE:To eliminate the adverse influence of curvature of an image, etc., by detecting a skew quantity from pilot signals inserted into a playback signal before and after the absence period of the playback signal and setting the screw quantity in a PLL with a phase which leads the end of the absence period. CONSTITUTION:A skew detecting circuit 13 counts the gap Td between a pilot signal V1 and a pilot signal V2 with the output signal of a VCO 7, and this counted value is compared with a reference value, thereby outputting the comparison output as a skew quantity alpha. The skew quantity alpha detected by the circuit 13 is supplied to a reset pulse generating circuit 14 to generate a reset pulse for a counter 8. Thus, a correcting value alpha corresponding to said skew quantity alphadetected in a vertical blanking period VB. and the correction value beta is set at the timing of the pilot signal V1. Therefore, the horizontal frequency signal generated by the PLL has delay reduced until the horizontal AFC circuit of a monitor receiver answers.
