DESULFURIZING AND DENITRIFYING AGENT FOR MOLTEN STEEL AND DESULFURIZING AND DENITRIFYING METHOD

PURPOSE:To enhance a denitrifying effect when molten steel is refined under reduced pressure, by blowing a specified desulfurizing and denitrifying agent on the surface of the molten steel. CONSTITUTION:The composition of a desulfurizing and denitrifying agent is composed of 50wt% one or more kinds of oxides of alkali metals or alkaline earth metals and one or more kinds of carbonates of alkali metals or alkaline earth metals, 1-30wt% one or more kinds of fluorides or chlorides of alkali metals or alkaline earth metals and 1-20wt% one or more kinds of metals or alloys each having a great affinity for oxygen. When molten steel is refined under reduced pressure, powder of the desulfurizing and denitrifying agent is blown on the surface of the molten steel with a carrier gas at such a rate that the powder can well penetrate into the molten steel.
