PURPOSE:To provide a molding tool with which a titled glass tube bent to a desired shape is obtd. by mounting a flexible protective material having heat resistance around a freely bendable rod-like metal and bending the uniformly heated glass tube along the molding tool. CONSTITUTION:The flexible protective material 3 consisting of asbestos, etc. having heat resistance is wound around the freely bendable rod-like metal 2 consisting of lead, copper or the alloy thereof to form the molding tool 1. The desired shape 5 is drawn on a paper pattern 4 and the tool 1 is placed on the paper pattern 4, then the tool is bent to comply with the shape 5. The uniformly heated glass tube 6 is bent from one end of the mold 1 along the outside circumference thereof so as to comply with the internal and external side faces of the mold 1 as a whole. The glass tube 6 is removed from the mold 1 upon lapse of the cooling time after the end of the molding work, then the glass tube 6 for a neon sign bent to the desired shape is obtd.
