FINISH WORK OF PLATE MAKING ROLL FOR PHOTOGRAVURE PRINTING

PURPOSE:To enable finish work of platemaking rolls having different tapered holes without replacing a center for supporting a plate making roll by forming a tapered face with larger angle then the taper angle of a tapered hole at a portion near to the outer end of the circumferential face of the tapered hole of the plate making roll. CONSTITUTION:When applying a cutting finish work onto the outer face of a plate making roll 1 for photogravure printing, an outwardly enlarging tapered face 10 having a taper angle A larger than a taper angle (a) is formed at a portion near to the outer end of the circumferential face of a tapered hole 4 for coupling a rotary shaft in an endboard 3 of the roll 1. Then a portion of a corn end section 12 of a center 11 for supporting the plate making roll of a lathe is fitted in the tapered hole 4 and the circumferential face thereof is contacted tightly against the tapered face 10 so as to support the roll 1. Under this condition, rough cutting and finish cutting are performed by means of cutting tools thus performing the finish work.
