METHOD FOR CONNECTING PRIME MOVER TO POWER GENERATOR IN POWER GENERATING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To realize highly efficient operation with small installation area and small cost by connecting a screw type 2-phase expansion machine directly to a power generator and selecting the range of rotational speed in which the expansion machine gives high efficiency, so as to determine a pole number of the power generator properly. CONSTITUTION:A screw type 2-phase expansion machine 1 is directly connected to a power generator 3 by a drive shaft 4 and a mixed pressure steam turbine 2 is connected to the power generator 3 by a drive shaft 5 through a reducing gear 7. A range of highly efficient and proper rotational speed is selected from a performance curve concerning efficiency of an expansion machine 1 between 800 and 3600 r.p.m., according to a predetermined steam condition. And a pole number of the power generator 3 is properly determined from 2 poles to 8 poles under 50-cycle or 60-cycle. Thus, the installation area can be minimized, the cost can be reduced, and highly efficient operation can be made.
