COBALT CARBONYLLISOQUINOLINE COMPLEX* ITS PREPARATION AND A CATALYST FOR HYDROESTERIFICATION CONSISTING OF SAID COMPLEX

NEW MATERIAL:Cobalt carbonyl-isoquinoline complex. EXAMPLE:The compound of the formula (iQ is isoquinoline). USE:A catalyst for hydroesterification having improved thermal stability without deteriorating the catalytic activity even on dehydration by the azeotropic method, capable of suppressing the hydrocarboxylation in the presence of water and readily separable after the reaction. PROCESS:A cobalt compound, e.g. hydroxide, carbonate, oxide or a salt with an organic acid, is reacted with carbon monoxide and isoquinoline, preferably at 120- 160 deg.C and 100-250kg/cm2 for 3-5hr, to give the titled complex. The molar amount of the isoquinoline is 8-12 times that of the cobalt.
