PURPOSE:To prevent the cutting of a wire by a method in which the valve of an intake port on the tip of a vertically rocking intake vertical tube connected to the intake port of the bottom of a dam is controlled by a wire wound around the valve through the pivotal support portion of the intake tube from the upper end of the dam. CONSTITUTION:An intake vertical tube 2 is pivotally supported in a vertically rocking manner through a rotary coupling 26 to one end of a communication tube 25 connected to the intake port 10 of the bottom of a dam 1. An intake port 4 is provided in the tip of the tube 2 and also a float 3 is pivotally supported on the tip. A valve 5 is also provided to the tip of the tube 2 in such a way as to operate it by a wire 6 which is rolled through the pivotal support 12 of the tube 2 from the operating part, e.g., handle, on the upper end of the dam 1 to the valve 5. The cutting of the wire 6 due to the variations in the water level can thus be prevented, and the amount of water to be taken can be made constant without the changing of the opening degree of the valve.
