PURPOSE:To safely and efficiently know an injured condition by providing a coil sensor for detecting the abnormal point of steel cords and a X-ray photographic apparatus to the part where a return side belt passes. CONSTITUTION:The coil sensor 9 for detecting the abnormal point provided in the part of a belt conveyor where the return side belt 2 passes detects the injured part or joint part of the steel cords in the belt 2. A marking device 10 marks the abnormal point according to the result of the detection. The conveyor is so stopped that the marked point comes above a machine frame 11. The marked point is photographed by the X-ray photographing device movable in the directions parallel with the moving direction of the belt 2 and perpendicular thereto by a remote operation. The X-ray image generated in a fluorescent plate 5 is photographed by a television camera 6, is displayed on a monitor 6 or is recorded into a VTR38.
