PURPOSE:An enhancer for salt resistance effective for resistance of crops to salt accumulated in soil, containing brassinolide, a steroid plant growth regulator obtained from pollen of Brassica napus L., as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:An enhancer for salt resistance of croups in which (2alpha, 3alpha, 22R, 23R)-tetrahydroxy-24S-methyl-B-homo-7-oxa-5alpha-cholestan-6-o-ne, namely, brassinolide (the sixth plant hormone following ethylene, auxin, gibberellin, cytokinin and abscisic acid) is used in about 1/103-1/105 concentration. In an area where the amount of rainfall is small and crops are cultivated by irrigation, or in a dry environment such as protected culture, salt is accumulated in soil, salt concentration is gradually raised, growth of crops is inhibited and huge damage is caused; however this is prevented by the enhancer.
