PURPOSE:To prepare L-valine, by cultivating a new strain obtained through the mutation of a microorganism belonging to the genus Escherichia. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism which has the resistance to beta-hydroxyisoleucine, beta-2-thienylalanine or 1,2,4-triazolealanine and is obtained through mutation of a microorganism belonging to the genus Escherichia, e.g. Escherichia coli AJ-11470 (FERM-P No. 5211), is inoculated into a liquid culture medium, and cultivated under aerobic conditions to produce L-valine, which is then collected.
