PURPOSE:To remove nitrogenous components present in gas light oil simply and effectively, by a method in which gas light oil is fractionated, and then the fractions are separately washed with water to extract nitrogenous components present in each fraction with water. CONSTITUTION:Gas light oil supplied into a fractionator 4 is distilled, and fore- running is put into the conduit 8 of a tower top portion 4C, where a water-washing position 8A to make the fore-running contact with water is provided and the diameter is enlarged. The fore-running reaching the water-washing position 8A is brought into contact with water atomized through a nozzle 9A, where vapor-liquid contact is sufficiently made while they pass through buffle plates 10 and the mixture of fore-running and water is directed to the center of the side of a static separator 13 and the fore-running is discharged from above into a reflux tank 15. The fore- running in the reflux tank 15 is partly refluxed through a conduit 18 to the upper part of the fractionator 4 by means of a liquid feed pump 18A. On the other hand, the other portion of the fore-running in the reflux tank 15 is sent through a conduit 19 to a storage tank 20 for storage in the form of a fore-running deprived of nitrogenous components.
