PURPOSE:The titled sex attractant, containing dodecyl acetate as an active constituent, and capable of controlling injurious insects in an imago period as an object by attracting and killing a large number of males or disturbing the copulation behavior of females and males. CONSTITUTION:A sex attractant for Melanotus okinawensius Ohira containing dodecyl acetate which is an attractant substance released from virgin female of Melanotus okinawensis Ohira and expressed by the formula as an active constituent. The attractant is used by adsorbing the above-mentioned active constituent in an amount of 1-1,000mg based on 1g carrier on a suitable carrier, or sealing the active constituent in a molded article of a carrier material. The attractant is capable of attracting many male imagoes and a small number of female imagoes with an attractive force equal to that of the virgin female.
