The blank of e.g. corrugated cardboard is intended for packing one or more books (27) or similar item(s). It comprises at least two panels (1,2), which are parallel in packed condition with the contents between them and are joined via a line (5) cut through over parts of its length. Pairs of lateral cuts (9,10) extend to either side from this line. The ends of each two such pairs are connected via fold lines (11) parallel to the joint line. The cuts of each pair (9,9) may diverge from the joint line.
