A process for converting waste material from chemical processes into a water resistant prod. consists of forming a wet mix of (w.r.t. total solids content) at least 65% chemical gypsum, 2-15% lime or cement and opt. at most 40% fly ash at most 15% free water w.r.t. total solids; compressing the mixt. under a press. of at least 50 MPa; and opt. breaking or milling the prod. to the desired size.
