Each component is produced by injection in the cavity (9) of a mould (1) containing longitudinally extending tubes (6) which are sealingly supported in the mould at their ends and subsequently receive tie rods to connect the components on assembly. After closing the mould, foam plastic, pref. polyurethane foam, is injected under pressure, pref. around 25 MPa, to form a component wall whereby, after setting,the foam has a closed-cell hard surface structure which permits finishing operations (planing, grinding, screwing etc.) after removal from the mould.
