The sectional sealing member (1) of rubber or the like is partic. used to seal. the join between a rail and a road surface. In relaxed condition, the cross-section of the member widens from its upper surface and, further down, becomes narrower. The narrow portion is provided with outwardly extending longitudinal lips at either side and the member contains at least one longitudinal cavity in its central area. Each lip pref. has an approximately triangular section with a horiztonal upper surface and a lower surface downwardly inclined to the underside of the member. The upper surface is preferably longitudinally grooved whilst the upper wall thickness is sufficient to confer wear resistance.
