The number of skittles knocked over in each bowling alley (2, 3) is counted and converted to digital form by digitiser circuits (4, 5). The digitiser outputs are fed to a microprocessor circuit (1). Also connected to the microprocessor are an on/off switch (6) and game start (7) and reset (8) switches. The microprocessor generates a short series of two-digit numbers, each of which has a value between 00 and 99, the start of the series being triggered by the sum of the two bowling alley scores. The numbers are displayed on a VDU (9).
