-12-ABSTRACTSolute Focusing Technique For On-ColumnInjection in Capillary Gas ChromatographyA solute focusing method is applied to the on-column injection of a liquid sample in gas chromato-graphy so that relatively large sample sizes can beused without causing intolerable column flooding.The injection zone of the column is kept originallyat a temperature below the solvent boiling point butthe temperature in the adjacent downstream zone iskept higher than the solvent boiling point so thatthe solvent will evaporate and flow downstream,leaving the solute molecules concentrated within arelatively limited length along the column.
