The pneumatically operated screwdriver or nut runner has a long handle with a gripping member at the top and a spring for applying a given load, and at the bottom is the drive, and another gripping and control member (13). The latter projects at right angles from the handle, and the pneumatic motor (9) projects parallel to it, underneath. The nut runner sleeve (4) projects below this, from the other side. A drive spindle (2) through the sleeve is driven by a friction wheel (5) in turn driven by a wheel (15) mounted on the motor spindle. The lower gripping member (13) controls a valve (12) for the air supply to the motor. The top of the handle, which is swung to and fro, carries a torque indicator.
