The brake control valve (1) has a valve casing (2) with a pressure-medium connection (18) which can be connected to a servo pressure-medium source (20), at least one connection (21) which can be connected to a wheel brake, a connection which can be connected to an unpressurised container, and with a valve slide (5) which is arranged in axially displaceable fashion in a bore of the valve casing (2) and has a passage (27) to connect the pressure-medium connection (18) to the connection (21) leading to the wheel brake. The valve has an increased actuating travel compared to those of the slide type. This is achieved by the fact that an axially displaceable element (13), which can be acted upon, on the one hand, by the force of a spring (17) and, on the other hand, by the brake pressure, is arranged in the valve casing (2), and in that the axially displaceable element (13) has at least one passage (24, 25, 26), by means of which the connections (18, 21, 22) can be connected to the valve passage (27).
