A circlet made from two circlet parts which can be swivelled apart, in particular a bracelet, has clasp elements which are integrated in the ring and are located directly on the hinge of the two circlet parts. An essential clasp element is a locking bar which can be displaced in one circlet part, has a continuation on the other circlet part and thus blocks the swivelling movement. The said bar can only be displaced out of the locking position counter to the force of a spring. This can be achieved from the outside via an actuating knob, on closing the clasp automatically snaps to. Integrating the essential components into the bracelet does not impair the aesthetic appearance of the item of jewellery; simple, one-handed operation is possible and, in particular, even bracelets whose two ends have a gap between them can be equipped therewith.
