Method and device improved machining electrical discharges, in which a liquid hydrocarbon such as kerosene is broken down, to the outside of the interval of machining, in order to produce gases f containing gaseous hydrocarbons, which gases are injected into the machining gap 7 immersed in a cooling liquid w on the basis of deionized water. The liquid hydrocarbon is broken down, for example thermally, so as to produce a gas containing 30 to 85% of hydrogen and the remainder in the gaseous hydrocarbon. The thermal decomposition is carried out by heating the liquid hydrocarbon at a temperature lower than 300 degrees c. the gas produced by the decomposition of the liquid hydrocarbon can be driven in a stream of deionized water so as to be brought in the range of machining, a region is immersed in a continuous volume of water désioniée. The decomposition of the liquid hydrocarbon can be carried out in a system of the thermal decomposition 22 separated connected to the interval of machining by a continuous conduit 19, 4c which communicate with a source of liquid hydrocarbon 20 with the machining gap.
