Process and apparatus for the continuous removal of a fibre tow from its chemical-fibre production run and for the subsequent feed of a willower or other machine located downstream. After spinning and crimping 2, the fibre tow 3 is conveyed, by a device 4, 5; 6 driven in a suitable alternating movement, to a J-shaped reservoir 7, the two wings 8, 9 of which are open upwards for depositing in layers and then for removal for the purpose of continuing the conveyance of the tow towards a converting machine 13. The invention is used for the intermediate storage of chemical fibres in a reservoir 7 of sufficient capacity to allow time, if need be, to repair the machine 13, without the production of fibres having to be stopped.
