A munchy, especially for dogs and cats, is manufactured from rawhide or spetches and/or split thereof by dehydration, pressing and chopping of the resulting product, and extrusion of same together with a starch material through several heating zones and a die plate, whereupon the extruded product may be cut.PPBy this method it becomes possible to use the hide wastes, available in large quantities from the production of leather, for the manufacturing of munchies and snacks for dogs and cats, thus sparing proper hide material that can now be used for finer applications.
