INFERENCE SYSTEM USING FACTUAL KNOWLEDGE AND HYPOTHETICAL KNOWLEDGE

PURPOSE:To facilitate an expression of knowledge of an expert by expressing the factual knowledge for showing a state quantity structure of an object world, and the hypothetical knowledge derived by inference, by the predicate for taking true and false values of a frame conforming with the respective special features. CONSTITUTION:A working memory for storing a data used for the inference is divided into a factual knowledge base 5 for storing a fact of a state quantity and a structure, etc., of an object world, and a hypothetical knowledge base 6 for storing a hypothesis generated in an inference process. Each knowledge base 5, 6 can exist by plural pieces, and they are brought to a related management in a tree shape and a network shape. In the factual knowledge base 5, a fact is stored, and one fact is expressed by a data format having a structure of a frame, an object, etc. In the hypothetical knowledge base 6, a hypothesis is stored, and one hypothesis is expressed by a predicate format for taking a multi-value of '0'-'1', or '-1'-'1', etc., as true and false values. In such a way, the knowledge transplantation property to a computer is enhanced.
