PURPOSE:To obtain the titled preventing agent containing a sand having specific particle size, etc., thickener and water at a specific ratio, capable of effectively preventing shoe mark by continuously feeding the agent between shoe and billet and between shoe and shell and preventing slip phenomenon during rolling operation. CONSTITUTION:The aimed preventing agent which is a water dispersion, containing (A) 3-70wt.% one or more kind selected from group consisting of sand having =2mm particle size, ferric oxide, silicon oxide and aluminum oxide, (B) 0.1-5% thickener such as CMC, hydroxyethyl cellulose, methyl cellulose and xanthan gum and (C) residual amount of water.
