PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of breakage of a dam by the impact of soil and stone avalanche by providing a buffer device made of a rubbery elastic material on the front face of a debris barrier constructed vertically to the direction of soil and stone avalanche in river. CONSTITUTION:A buffer device 4 is made up of a rubbery elastic hollow cylin der 5, an impact receiving plate 6 provided on the front face of the cylinder 5, and a hanger 12. The device 4 is attached with anchor bolts 13 to the front face of a debris barrier 1 constructed vertically to the direction of soil and stone avalanche in a river. Rocks 2 of the soil and stone avalanche collide with the device 4, thereby preventing the direct impact of soil and stone with the barrier 1. The damage to the barrier 1 can thus be prevented, and a light- weight debris barrier structure can be constructed at low cost.
